Biographies - Agankast

Agankast was formed in march 2005 by ex-Atomkraft guitarist Rob Matthew Redhead. Rob had been Atomkrafts guitarist and main songwriter alongside bass player tony dolan since the bands pro-conception in 1985 .Rob enjoyed great success with the 80s thrash metal band, living the metal dream for the following four years.. touring and appearing with the likes of Venom, Exodus, slayer, testament etc... Rob however left Atomkraft in 1989 frustrated at the bands management and record label.... tony dolan followed months later and Atomkraft soon folded.
Rob returned to Academic studies gaining honours in graphic design and illustration before spending the remainder of the 90s travelling the world. Rob relocated to Britain in 2002... where following Atomkrafts "Anthology" release on "Sanctuary records" he returned to Metal forming new band "Agankast". Based in the Scottish borders rob recruited locally and got an early break with the discovery of singer/bassist Allan Scott(24). Allan had been in numerous local bands and had cut his teeth on the scottish gig circuit with galashiels death metal band Death certificate. Rob and allan began writing immedietaly whilst also searching for the right second guitarist and Drummer. Drummer Drew Gill(18) was next to join Agankast....drew had been recommended to rob by the new singer who had worked with him in the past, drews drumming style fitted in perfectly to the bands no nonsense Old school Heavy Metal approach and the three began working on demo material. These early songs would go on to form the backbone of the bands now famous Mp3 page, free music that was genourously donated as a promotion for the newly launched Agankast website. New songs like "Butcher and the Clown" and "Gorotica" allowed the critics and metal public alike to quickly understand the songwriting quality of the "now returned ex-Atomkraft guitarist" and the formidable band he had assembled. From the outset Agankast had set out to become a four piece, and only months after the bands initial forming a second guitarist was ready in the wings. Enter Ciaran wright(18) ciaran was discovered after numerous auditions across the scottish borders. Hailing from Edinburgh ciaran was an instant chioce as the final link to the band... his truly outstanding technical and speed of playing contrasted perfectly to robs own unique style. Agankast had now emerged as a "powerfull live band" and began touring around scotland in autumn of 2005, this coincided with the bands self produced "Debut release" entiled "Dance of the Dead" which recieved excellent reviews from webzines across the world and giving the band an overall score of 8/10 on 95% of all reviews... comparing Agankast to early Metalica and Supultra and with comments like "Agankast are way better than Atomkraft" which inevitably brought a wry smile from Rob... Agankast were now becoming 100% focused on creating first class Heavy Metal music. Agankast ended 2005 on a high with the confirmation of Bloodstock 2006 a New second album was being discussed. New songs were penned and Agankast began recording what they hope to be a breakthrough album entitled "Welcome to Insanitarium" it was begun in december 2005, the album is released now and the guys are excited about what they are calling their portfolio of power. Agankast have now eight free songs available to download from their website at www.Agankast.com, they are very much a visual band and have set themselves a goal of placing a new video promo every six weeks on the website during 2006. All of the bands material from their debut "Dance of the Dead" and the new follow up "Welcome to Insanitarium" are available to "Buy/download" from chosen download sites. Agankast expect the New Album and live shows in 2006 to establish themselves as serious contenders in the race for Metal Immortality, and judging by the bands sudden impact and quality of Metal ... it seems there will be no stopping this celtic storm that is scottish Heavy Metal band "Agankast".
